2024 DOC HOLLIDAY BBQ & GBA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Griffin, GA

38 GBA teams descended on Griffin GA for a full weekend of BBQ – the 2024 Doc Holliday BBQ Championship, the 2024 Georgia State Brisket Championship, and 2024 GBA State Championship. This is truly a one-of-a-kind event – it’s the only one where you can see recreations of the famous Shootout at the OK Corral – and has some of the most sought after trophies on the GBA circuit. HUGE THANK YOU to Will Doss and his AMAZING TEAM for another great event and thank you to all the GBA Judges for your dedication to our association!

I’m Your Huckleberry BBQ walked last for their first ever GBA Grand Championship, which also crowned them as the 2024 GBA Georgia State Champion.

Grills Gone Wild won the Reserve Grand Championship with an amazing cook, taking a 1st Place Loin, 7th Place Pork, & 7th Place Rib call.

Grills Gone Wild came out on top with 1st Place Loin. Raising Cain BBQ took 2nd place Loin with REAL-Licious-Q taking 3rd place Loin.

2024 SYLVESTER SWINE FESTIVAL – Sylvester, GA

PIG-EEE-LICIOUS WINS THE GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP

The Georgia BBQ Association headed over to Sylvester, GA for the 2024 SYLVESTER SWINE FESTIVAL. We had beautiful weather and an amazing venue, with Karen Singletary doing an amazing job as usual! We had 27 GBA Pro Teams and 7 Kids Burger Challenge Competitors. Huge Thank You to all the GBA Teams, Kids Burger Cooks, GBA Judges, and GBA Reps that made this event GREAT. 27 GBA Teams made judging extremely hard for the judges with AMAZING Q in all three pork categories. When all the judging was done Pig-eee-licious Won the Grand Championship with their Pork Entry and 319Q Won the Reserve Grand Championship holding off Posse BBQ, Off the Chain BBQ, and Shark Bite BBQ!

PORK LOIN CATEGORY

Off the Chain BBQ came out on top with 1st Place Loin. Possee BBQ took 2nd place Loin with Big Daddy’s BBQ Pit taking 3rd place Loin.

Pork Category

Congratulations to Pig-eee-licious on their Pork Category Win! Posse BBQ took 2nd place pork with 319Q taking 3rd place pork.

RIB CATEGORY

Congrats to B319 Q on their 1st Place Rib and a perfect 600 in the preliminary round! Flyin Pig Bar-B-Q with 2nd place rib and REAL-Licious Q on 3rd place ribs.

2023 GBA BANQUET – February 10, 2024

The 2023 GBA Baquet is scheduled for February 10, 2024 and will be held at the Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club. The cost is $25.00 per person – please invite your family and friends. We will have dinner and our annual GBA awards. There will be a cash bar. We just wanted to make everyone aware of the date so all GBA members can go ahead and make plans to attend. We’re cooking up some fun events to take place around this year’s banquet, including the 2023 GBA TOTY Awards, our GBA Judge of the Year Award, it will also feature the induction of the first class of honorees into the Georgia Barbecue Hall of Fame. We will have a live band again, great food, all will make for an amazing weekend!

Linda Hawkins has set Special Rates for the GBA Banquet Weekend: Lake Blackshear Camp Sites $45 per night and Cabins $189 per night.
