Team of the Year Registration

Starting with the 2019-2020 GBA competition season all teams who wish to participate in the Team of the Year point race must register their team name and a pitmaster in order for their points to be calculated and considered.

• Only one registration per year per team is required. Once you’ve registered, you don’t have to do it again until next season.
• Your GBA membership must remain valid throughout all contests. If your membership is lapses prior to a contest and you don’t renew it, you will not be awarded points for that contest.
• Points are assigned to a team, not an individual or pitmaster.
• In order to receive points for a contest you must be registered prior to the start of the cooks meeting of that contest. Registering after the cooks meeting won’t do you any good for that contest, but you will receive points for any contest you attend after registering*.
  
• You must use the exact same team name when signing up for all contests. Variations in spelling, punctuation, or overall composition will result in missed points.
• You cannot change your team name once you’ve registered for the season.
• You can change Pitmasters during the season.
• Each Pitmaster must be a current member of the GBA and must not have been named as a Pitmaster of any other team in the current TOTY points race.
• Your Team Name will be used for all awards, banners, etc during the annual Banquet

* As an example of the registration cutoff process, if you register for TOTY after the Doc Holliday cook’s meeting begins you will NOT receive points for the Doc Holliday event – but you will receive points for any other event you cook during the same season.

We’re developing a web portal to handle this, but in the meantime in order to register for Team of the Year please send an email to totyregistration@bbqga.org with the following information:

• Team name exactly as you want it listed in the TOTY system
• Pitmaster name
• GBA Number
• Valid email address
