It’s Election Time!
2019 is election year for the Georgia Barbecue Association! The GBA holds elections for President and Vice President every two years, so if you’ve always wanted to help the GBA grow – not to mention provide the best barbecue experience for teams, judges, and contests – now is the time to throw your hat in the ring!
The following dates, procedures, and qualification requirements have been adopted by the GBA Board and will be used to govern this election:
- The Candidate Qualifying Period shall be from April 1 to April 15 of the year prior to the end of the current officers terms.
- The voting period shall be from June 1st through June 15th.
- An applicant must be a current member in good standing of the Georgia Barbecue Association
- An applicant must have been a member in good standing for at least one year prior to the start of the Candidate Qualifying Period.
- An applicant must declare their intent to run by submitting a Letter of Intent to the Chairman of the Board of Directors in writing, either by email or standard postal mail.
- Letters of Intent are accepted during the Candidate Qualifying Period only. Letters of Intent received prior to April 1 or after April 15 will be rejected.
- Letters of Intent sent by standard postal mail will be accepted based on the postmark date.
- Letters of Intent sent by email will be accepted based on the date received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
- Letters of Intent must include complete contact information, including email address, phone number, and mailing address of the candidate.
- Letters of Intent must include the GBA Member number and the members name as shown on the GBA membership card.

After the qualifying period closes the GBA will publish the list of candidates, as well as additional information on voting specifics.
