Fort Valley Grand, 2020
Grand Champion Hot Ash Q – Fort Valley, GA

The GBA returned to action for the first time since March 2020 when 23 teams gathered in Fort Valley on October 24.  Thanks to the Fort Valley Masonic Lodge #110 for allowing the GBA to return to the home of their first GBA contest in 2007 after several years of absence.

Hot Ash Q returned with a strong performance as the only team to double final and claimed the Grand Championship trophy and $2,000 check for their loin entry.

Reserve Grand Flyin Pig Bar-B-Que – Fort Valley, GA

Flyin Pig Bar-B-Que earned a $1,500 check and trophy as the Reserve Grand Champion after finishing 4th in Loin, 5th in Pork, and 3rd in Ribs. The only 600 of the day went to Smoke Show for their preliminary rib entry.

Hot Ash Q started the day with a first place finish in the Loin category.  Hog N’ Ass had their first finals call at a GBA competition with their second place finish, and Smokin the Good Stuff rounded out the top three with another strong Loin showing.

Barbecue By the Numbers

The GBA 2018-2019 season has come to a successful close, and we’re proud to have helped provide you the opportunity to do the thing you love – cook barbecue! The GBA has worked hard to make these contests fun and fair, and we’ll continue working hard in the off season to make things even better.

We’d like to thank all of our Teams, Judges, and Contest Organizers. It takes all 3 working together to make a successful season and the GBA is proud of our role in the process. Our teams are some of the best on the barbecue circuit, and our judges are second to none. The Contest organizers deserve a huge thank you for doing all the hard work (and putting up with all of us!).

The statistics provided here are sourced from the new BBQ Scoring system the GBA formally adopted this year. The scoring system is database-driven, which means we can quickly and easily retrieve this information. If you find any issues with this data please email webmaster@bbqga.org
